David Gillen., Registered Provisional Psychologist
During a late-night conversation with a close friend years ago, I mentioned that if I ever returned to university, I would likely become a psychologist. That idea stayed with me, and today I feel grateful to be working in a field that allows me to support others through life's challenges.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain, or simply wanting things to feel different, I strive to offer a warm, curious, and steady presence where you can explore what you're experiencing without judgment.
My work is grounded in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based approach that helps people better understand the emotions shaping their thoughts, behaviours, and relationships. Together, we explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck and work toward meaningful change and relief. I also integrate other evidence-based approaches when helpful, tailoring therapy to each person's needs.
I work with individuals aged 16 and older experiencing anxiety, stress, self-esteem concerns, grief and loss, divorce and life transitions, men's issues, relationship difficulties, and codependency. I provide affirming support for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and supporting individuals with ADHD and autism is an important part of my practice.
Outside of work, you'll often find me spending time with friends, family, and my dogs, or enjoying the outdoors through camping, hiking, skiing, travel, mountain biking, and horseback riding. I also have a strong interest in business, finance, agriculture, and rural living.
If you're navigating a difficult season or wanting to better understand yourself, I would be honoured to work alongside you.
