Trichotillomania and Skin Picking
Sometimes, people get stuck in habits that are hard to break. This is especially true when the habit is something that is embarrassing, as the person often suffers in silence.
Most of us will pull unwanted hairs or pick at skin from time to time. But, for some people, this becomes an everyday activity that can get out of control. About 1% of all people have severe difficulties with pulling their own hair or picking at their skin too much; that would mean that these challenges affect about 10,000 people in the Edmonton area!
If you suffer with this, you are not alone. Though there is no ‘magic solution’ to solving these kinds of issues, we have training to help through implementing practical, everyday strategies to address these habits.
