Obsessive Compulsive Disorder:
People with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) experience difficulties with thoughts and behaviours that they do over and over again, even though they may not fully understand why they do them or even want to do them. These are often embarrassing, and adults as well as children with OCD often go for years without getting assistance because they feel they are the only ones in the world with these experiences. In fact, in any given year, more than 1 in 100 people will experience these kinds of challenges, so they are really not that unusual.
We use evidence-based cognitive-behavioural strategies to address these challenges. This treatment involves work and courage from the client, and we strive to help the person make positive changes at just the right rate of speed (sometimes very fast, sometimes more gradual).
